[16:00] stone: what's with this massive ban thing, right in mid-season? 1st time we got a change in tourney rules and also 1st time we get so many bans at a time. Any particular reasons ?
[16:00] LSJ: we wanted to balance the game as much as possible before the upcoming 2009 Championships.
[16:00] LSJ: there was general consensus that made it unnecessary to wait for january 2010.
[16:01] stone: OK, but why those cards in particular? Sudario and anthelios, I guess recursivity thingy was judged broken or something
[16:01] LSJ: right.
[16:01] LSJ: well above the 'power curve', even though it was rated OK when designed. Or reprinted, in the case of SR.
[16:01] stone: what about parity/carlton?
[16:01] LSJ: not going into details for Parity Shift. Carlton nerfed all diablerie-based decks and those decks need an overhaul.
[16:01] LSJ: hence the ban.
[16:02] stone: err ok...but why Guillaume Giovanni? I can't think of any reason why he should be banned. it's not like he's ubah or anything.
[16:02] LSJ: that one actually led to health-related issues.
[16:03] stone: what the hell do you mean, "health"?
[16:03] LSJ: the unusually large hand size resulted in some players reporting tendinitis. Those players filed complaints to WW and the game doesn't need to delve into legal issues of that kind, so the card was banned altogether.
[16:03] stone: err sorry what does "tendinitis" mean ?
[16:04] LSJ: it's basically when you got an ache in the tendon
[16:04] stone: err...
[16:05] LSJ: pain because you do the same gesture over and over, or you lift something too heavy
[16:05] stone: ahhh
[16:05] stone: yeah i guess it's "tendinite" in french
[16:05] stone: now wait
[16:05] stone: you mean people get that tendinitus thingy just because they hold too many cards in their hands???
[16:05] stone: it's a joke, right?
[16:06] LSJ: no
[16:06] LSJ: something similar happened with M:tG. A player got cut because the cards out of the booster cut him (similar to cutting yourself with a sheet of paper), he did sue WotC at the time.
[16:06] LSJ: it's certainly not something to joke about, hence the ban of Guillaume.
[16:06] LSJ: that's the way it is.
[16:06] stone: y'know, what you just said, in french some of us say it like "c'est comme ça". I'm lucky you didn't add "stranger" on top or else I'd have thought i was in the twilight zone
[16:07] LSJ: ?
[16:06] stone: nevermind..i guess the french dudes on the forum will never believe me, oh well
